This trend toward automatic credit or debit card charges is enough to make a person want to go off-grid. I hate it. But I’ll admit I also love what I get for some those charges. The one subscription I think is the best value of them all is my Office 365 subscription.
What Software is Included?
For $10 a month I get access to all the Office programs for five devices. And we are talking about some totally awesome software, really. Sure, Word and Excel have been really solid software for so long we all kind of take them for granted. But really, Excel is so incredibly powerful and intuitive and useful. Use it and it can save you the $10/month by itself.
Outlook and Publisher can be very useful too. I like having Publisher without having to really pay extra for it.
I literally could not function without OneNote. I keep notes, dates and scads of other important but forgettable tidbits in there. It’s like sticky notes on searchable steroids!
OneDrive online storage is a pretty cool thing too. Backups are great but online backups in addition to jump drives or external hard drives are absolutely the best option possible.
One Drive has an extra bonus. You can access a file from anywhere or any computer. For example I was working on a Word document and I couldn’t find a photo I needed so I wanted to go to another computer to finish and pdf the file. All I did was save it to One Drive and go to the other computer, fire up Word, and there it was in my Recent files list just as though I’d worked on it on that computer. Darned slick!
Upgrades
The best part of Office 365 is that you can just upgrade whenever you want. The newest versions came out a while ago and I could just have them without making a purchase. Of course I have already paid for it. . . every month.
Purchase Options
Microsoft has tons of different options for Office 365. There are small business options which are a little more expensive but really worth it if you want cloud hosting of your company’s Outlook or you want to use Sharepoint. For Home users, there are 2 options and only the $10/month one is a good deal in my opinion. That one give you 5 devices and that’s a good deal. It’s even easy to turn on and off different computers if 5 isn’t quite enough for you. I have to prioritize . . . .

Where to Purchase Office 365?
I love Amazon and frequently encourage people to buy Photoshop Elements or QuickBooks from Amazon. Do NOT buy your subscriptions from Amazon or any other 3rd party. Remember my motto – keep things easy. Buy from the company that is selling the subscription so there is no change of a problem with the intermediary. The comments are full of such problems and you don’t need them.
